What’s wrong with Kwik Fit
What’s wrong with Kwik Fit?
The BBC’s programme, Your Money Their Tricks has carried out an investigation into Kwik-Fit.
A Kwik-Fit whistleblower has revealed that the company has targets and that customers could be tricked into paying for work that isn’t required. This is so that staff can hit these targets.
Before sending ten cars into ten different Kwik-Fit branches for free brake and tyre checks they were thoroughly checked by a forensic mechanic. When they came back the mechanic then checked them all over again and found that Kwik-Fit had not completed the full brake and tyre inspection on seven of the cars. Kwik-Fit had also recommended that over £700 worth of work on four of the cars that the forensic mechanic felt was not required or was not as urgent as they had claimed.
It must be pointed out that Kwik-Fit disagreed with the BBC’s report stating that they do their own mystery shopping to help identify any malpractices and undertake regular audits.
An internet search reveals lots of stories from unhappy customers. Someone takes their car into a Kwik-Fit garage with what appears to be a minor fault and then their fitters claim that the fault is much bigger and will require more work than necessary. Several online comments state this often happens when taking their car in for its MOT.
Their own Facebook page reports rude staff, unnecessary work, repairs and crazy prices.
Your Money their Tricks will be broadcast Wednesday 10 July, 8pm on BBC One
